Deva box office collection day 2: Rosshan Andrrews, a Malayalam director, stepped into the Hindi film scene with Deva, which premiered on January 31. As per Sacnilk, the movie featuring Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde raked in about ₹11.37 crore on its opening Saturday.

Deva kicked off with a bang, raking in ₹5.5 crore on its first day and about ₹5.87 crore on its first Saturday, bringing its total to ₹11.37 crore. On that Saturday, the film saw 5.84% occupancy for morning shows, 11.28% in the afternoon, and 14.20% for the evening slots.

With Sky Force in the mix, it’ll be interesting to see how much Deva pulls in over its opening weekend. On Saturday, Zee Studios, the film’s producer, revealed that the action drama grossed ₹10.31 crore on its debut day, with ₹6.82 crore coming from India and ₹3.49 crore from overseas. Meanwhile, trade reports indicated a gross of ₹6.60 crore in India and a worldwide total of ₹10.10 crore.

Deva Overview

Deva follows the journey of ACP Dev Ambre, portrayed by Shahid. He’s a charming ladies' man and a bit of a hothead, but things take a turn when he loses his memory while investigating his best friend's murder. This film is based on Rosshan’s 2013 Malayalam movie Mumbai Police, featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran, but it has some significant tweaks in the storyline, especially regarding the big twist at the end. Pooja plays Dev’s girlfriend, a journalist named Divya Sathaye.

The film got a mixed bag of reactions from both critics and viewers, though Shahid’s acting received a lot of praise. According to a review from Hindustan Times, “Deva could have used more action and fewer layers. If the approach is meant to appeal to the masses, with some standout moments, why complicate the plot? Some interesting storylines also seem to be left hanging.”
