Shahid Kapoor's latest film, Deva, has made its debut in theatres. In this movie, Shahid portrays a volatile police officer, and it has been marketed as a mass entertainer. Given Shahid's popularity and the film's genre, there were high expectations for Deva. However, it seems that the film may face challenges in meeting these expectations.

Regarding advance booking collections, Deva was anticipated to perform well on its opening day, with advance ticket sales serving as an early indicator. Unfortunately, the initial figures suggest that the film may not achieve a strong opening. As reported by Sacnilk, Deva garnered only ₹1.67 crore in gross advance bookings for its first day, selling fewer than 100,000 tickets across the country prior to its release, which is considered quite low. Nevertheless, there is a silver lining for Deva; as a mass-market film, it is likely to perform better in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where on-the-spot ticket purchases remain popular. This indicates that despite the disappointing advance booking numbers, the film still has the potential to recover throughout the day.

Deva box office day 1 prediction

According to industry reports, Deva is anticipated to have a modest opening day, projected to generate between ₹5-7 crore nett in India. The initial reviews are expected to be released in the afternoon, as there were no early screenings for critics. Should the audience response be favourable, the earnings could trend towards the higher end of this estimate. However, current indicators suggest a ₹6-crore opening for the film featuring Shahid Kapoor. If this projection holds true, it would signify that Deva's first-day performance would be less than one-third of Shahid's previous successful film, Kabir Singh, which garnered nearly ₹20 crore on its opening day in 2019.

A significant embarrassment for Deva would be if the projected figures are accurate, as the film is likely to underperform compared to Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, which premiered the previous week. Sky Force recorded ₹5.50 crore on Thursday, its seventh day of release, and is expected to perform even better on Friday. As of noon, Sky Force has accumulated ₹31 lakh on Friday, according to Sacnilk, closely competing with Deva, which has earned ₹32 lakh.
