Manoj Bajpayee is geared up for his next film, Despatch.The actor will play a fearless journalist in this thrilling film, directed by Kanu Behl. His character is threatened by digitalization. While the announcement of the film was made in October, the makers have finally dropped the release date and a fascinating teaser. 

Despatch OTT release details

Taking to their official Instagram account, ZEE5 announced that Manoj Bajpayee starrer Despatch will land on the OTT platform on December 13. Revealing the release date, they also unveiled the teaser of the film.

The teaser shows Manoj as Joy having a drink with someone. Moments later, he gets startled by huge stones that are being thrown at his window. After a while, a call from a private number alerted him: “Pack up and go home. NOW!” However, Joy remains resolute and continues his pursuit of the truth. “I can have six stories; but what’s most valuable is information,” says one character, emphasizing the important role of ethics in journalism.

The teaser further shows Joy facing dangers in his professional life but also the personal challenges that weigh on him. When it is revealed that his latest scoop revolves around the Rs 8,000 crore scam, the narrative grows. “You will be slapped with so many cases Joy sir, it’ll take you seven generations and 150 years to fight them,” a character says. Joy responds, “Once the story is out…” and the teaser gets cut. 

Manoj Bajpayee praises director Kanu Behl

During an earlier interview with Variety, Manoj heaped praise on filmmaker Kanu Behl and said that Kanu is a one-of-a-kind director. He also mentioned that he believes every young actor should line up outside his office so that they can work with him at least once in their life. 

"The workshops that he makes you go through, the takes that he makes you go through, all of it… it all boils down to only one thing: the vast experience of filmmaking, the vast experience of performance that it really helps you to gather, is something else,” he added.
