Just like Spider-Man: No Way Home, it may take a year or so to fully absorb the madness unleashed by Deadpool & Wolverine. Currently sitting atop the list of highest-grossing R-rated movies in cinema history, the film has set and broken numerous records, with no immediate competitors in sight—except perhaps Joker: Folie à Deux, which releases in October. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, also serves as the gateway for the X-Men and mutants to enter the MCU. As we witnessed the mutants appear one by one, we couldn’t help but wonder what could possibly top the last reveal. But all chaos broke loose when Jennifer Garner entered the frame as Elektra, in the best way possible.

Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner's Underrated Film

Her return as Elektra was a brilliant twist, as her character's journey was cut short even though fans had loved her portrayal. But did you know this wasn't the first time Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner shared the screen? Yes, that’s true! The two have a fun and charming movie to their credit, although it isn’t widely known or frequently mentioned in pop culture. Read on to learn more.

For those unaware, Jennifer Garner and Hugh Jackman were both at the height of their careers around the same time. Both actors have made some interesting script choices, one of which was a quirky film called Butter, which was released in 2011. This movie marked their first on-screen collaboration, and fans at the time enjoyed their chemistry. The film also stars Olivia Wilde and is quite a fun watch.

Directed by Jim Field Smith, Butter is about Laura (played by Jennifer Garner), the wife of Iowa’s butter-carving champion. When her husband, Bob, decides to retire, Laura enters the contest herself. However, with a strong opponent standing in her way, she has to find a way to win—even if it means bringing back her ex-boyfriend, Boyd (played by Hugh Jackman). You can watch Butter on Lionsgate Play in India with your OTTplay Premium subscription.

Jennifer Garner’s Future in the MCU

The last time we see Jennifer Garner as Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine, the two characters jump out of the Void to Earth-10005. Alioth has nearly consumed everything in sight, possibly even the mutants who fought alongside them. However, the climax shows Laura, aka X-23, back on Earth-10005 with Logan, suggesting that they all might have survived—including Elektra. If that’s the case, we could see her again in Avengers: Secret Wars, if not sooner in another MCU film.
