Deadpool & Wolverine box office collection day 1: Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer Deadpool & Wolverine opened to massive numbers at the Indian box office. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film earned over ₹20 crore on its first day of release in India, making itself the biggest Hollywood opener of the year after Godzilla x King: The New Empire, which opened at Rs. 12.6 crore in India.

As per reports by Sacnilk.com, the film earned nearly ₹22 crore in India. As per early estimates, the film earned around ₹21.5 crore on its first day in India for all languages. In India, the film earned ₹11.7 crore in English, ₹7.5 crore in Hindi, ₹1.1 crore in Tamil, and ₹1.2 crore in Telugu. Deadpool & Wolverine had an overall 33.32% English occupancy on Friday. According to the reports, the night shows of the film contributed to the majority of the earnings by delivering an occupancy of 48.73%. 

This Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer now stands at the 6th spot for Hollywood's biggest opening day in India, leaving behind Thor: Love and Thunder. The film has also shattered the first-day box office record of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which opened at ₹13.50 crore on its first day in India.

After Avengers: Endgame (Rs 53.10 crore), Avatar: The Way of Water (Rs 40 crore), Spiderman: No Way Home (Rs 32.67 crore), Avengers: Infinity War (Rs 31.30 crore), and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Rs 28.35 crore), Deadpool & Wolverine now stands at the 6th position of all-time biggest Hollywood openings in India.

Not just Hollywood films, but this Ryan and Hugh starrer has also surpassed the first-day box office collection of the top 5 Indian films, including Shaitaan (Rs 14.75 crore), Crew (Rs 9.25 crore), Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Rs 6.7 crore), and Munjya (Rs 4 crore).

Along with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, the film also stars Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Aaron Stanford, and Matthew Macfadyen. The screenplay has been written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.
