The long wait for the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Deadpool 3—officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine—will finally be over in just a few days. In the days leading up to the film's release this week, stars including Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, and director Shawn Levy have been keeping busy on the worldwide press tour. They have not yet revealed most of the mysteries of Deadpool 3.
All you need to know about Deadpool & Wolverine
According to the promos thus far, we can expect a variety of things, including unexpected X-Men returns, a new Wolverine, the possibility of Taylor Swift's appearance, and more. Although you may want to know more about Deadpool 3, we have gathered all the necessary information.
Deadpool & Wolverine release date
On Friday, July 26, Deadpool & Wolverine will hit theatres in India and across the globe. The original release date of the film was September 6, 2024, but it underwent a rescheduling to November 8, 2024, and then unexpectedly advanced six months ahead of schedule.
Deadpool & Wolverine trailer
On February 11, 2024, the first Deadpool 3 trailer debuted during the Super Bowl. Despite only showcasing Wolverine's back and shadow, the trailer features a crossover with Loki, transports Wade Wilson to the TVA, and provides numerous hints about the violent action sequences in the movie.
A new trailer debuted on April 22, unveiling Emma Corrin's villain and providing fans with their first glimpse of Wolverine in the film. After that, there were a ton of teasers, most of which recycled the footage from the trailers. Although set leaks had already revealed Tyler Mane's cameo as Sabretooth, one teaser did formally unveil his comeback to the role.
Deadpool & Wolverine runtime
Deadpool 3 officially announces a total running time of 127 minutes and 45 seconds, or slightly more than two hours and seven minutes. With a duration of 108 minutes, it surpasses both Deadpool and Deadpool 2 in terms of length.
Deadpool & Wolverine cast
It seemed inevitable that Ryan Reynolds would reprise his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, and he's got some serious company. Wolverine will be Hugh Jackman's first Marvel Cinematic Universe role. Since the release of the second trailer, it has been clear that this Wolverine is different from the one from the X-Men series. Reynolds and Jackman have stated that they won't spoil Logan's ending, so that made sense.
Emma Corrin's confirmation that she will play the major villain in the film adds an intriguing new dimension to the Marvel universe at large. The second trailer confirmed the rumours that Corrin will portray Cassandra Nova, the X-Men villain. Take it as you will; they modeled the villain character after Willy Wonka. Matthew Macfadyen, who starred in Succession, will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Deadpool 3. The first trailer for the film suggested that he would be playing the role of a TVA agent, who turns out to be Mr. Paradox.
We learned that Stefan Kapičić is returning as Colossus in Deadpool 2, and we were introduced to several new characters in the X-Force team. The initial teaser also showed that Brianna Hildebrand's Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna's Yukio, Lewis Tan's Shatterstar, and Rob Delaney's Peter would all be returning to their roles as X-Force colleagues.
Assuming the post-credits scene from Deadpool 2 is canon, Deadpool's girlfriend Vanessa is one character in the franchise who has already escaped death. The series' first trailer revealed Morena Baccarin's return as Vanessa.
One of the biggest surprises was Aaron Stanford's unexpected return as Pyro in the first Deadpool 3 teaser, but the second trailer also revealed the reappearance of Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu) and Azazel (Jason Flemyng). The third Deadpool film confirmed Karan Soni's return as Dopinder.
Reynolds stated in late November 2023 that they will reveal every single one of these secrets and spoilers on July 26.
Deadpool & Wolverine plot
Despite several interviews with the director and cast, as well as two trailers, the plot of Deadpool 3 remains a mystery. In June 2022, co-writer Rhett Reese dropped a plot hint that had us believing that Deadpool would make an appearance in the MCU storyline in the third film. This implies that, rather than reimagining his MCU role, the film would confront the reality that he now inhabits.
The first teaser seemed to confirm this, showing Deadpool escorted to the TVA and given the opportunity to be a "hero among heroes." This would indicate that the original two films are not a total reimagining of the character but rather that they are still in existence.
Wolverine has seen worlds destroyed before, and Deadpool needs his help to save his world, as hinted in the second teaser. Words from Macfadyen's TVA agent describe Wolverine as having let down his entire universe.
Reynolds had tweeted that the third film would be a road trip starring Deadpool & Wolverine, similar to Rashomon—before Jackman's involvement was confirmed.
Will Deadpool 3 delve deeper into this universe? Just a few days remain until the big reveal.
Deadpool & Wolverine on OTT
On July 26, Deadpool & Wolverine will hit the big screen. You can watch Deadpool and Deadpool 2 on Disney+ Hotstar; thus, the third installment is also likely to stream on the OTT giant after its theatrical run.
