L2 Empuraan box office collection day 8:Prithviraj Sukumaran's L2 Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal, continues to perform well but is beginning to exhibit a slight decrease in pace as it moves into its second week. The film, which had a robust opening and is on track to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film, has garnered a net collection of ₹87.78 crore.

L2 Empuraan garnered a net collection of ₹84.35 crore in India during its opening week. According to trade reports, the film earned approximately ₹3.43 crore net on its second Thursday, bringing the cumulative total to ₹87.78 crore net in the country. The film had a robust debut, earning ₹21 crore upon its release on March 27. It further collected ₹11.1 crore on its first Friday, followed by ₹13.25 crore and ₹13.65 crore over the weekend. However, the film's collections have been gradually declining throughout the week, and it is crucial for them to rebound this weekend to sustain its momentum.

Following the film's release, the creators implemented 24 voluntary edits in collaboration with the CBFC in response to public criticism. Controversial fictional scenes portraying the 2002 Gujarat riots faced significant scrutiny, prompting adjustments to other sequences that featured a religious site, instances of violence against women, and more, in addition to altering the name of the antagonist. Actor-politician Suresh Gopi responded to allegations that these modifications were made due to political influence during a parliamentary session on Thursday, stating, “The changes were made at the discretion of the producers and the film's lead actor, with the director's approval.”

L2 Empuraan serves as a continuation of the successful 2019 film Lucifer, showcasing Mohanlal in the role of the enigmatic Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi Ab’raam. Prithviraj portrays his loyal associate, Zayed Masood. The film concludes with the introduction of Mohanlal’s son, Pranav Mohanlal, who plays a younger version of Stephen, paving the way for L3 The Beginning.
