Emergency box office update: The film Emergency, featuring Kangana Ranaut as the star, producer, writer, and director, made its theatrical debut last week following numerous delays. This biographical political thriller centres around the imposition of an Emergency by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975. According to the most recent box office report from Sacnilk.com, Emergency has surpassed ₹10 crore in earnings to date.

The report indicates that Emergency generated ₹ 0.93 crore on its fourth day of release, according to preliminary estimates. This figure represents the lowest single-day collection for the film to date. The overall earnings of the film now total ₹ 11.28 crore. It opened with a collection of ₹ 2.5 crore and experienced modest growth in the following days, earning ₹ 3.6 crore and ₹ 4.25 crore on its second and third days, respectively.

On its fourth day, Emergency recorded a Hindi occupancy rate of 6.50 per cent in theatres.

On Monday, Kangana utilized her Instagram platform to convey a video message in which she expressed gratitude to her fans for their support of her film. Additionally, she addressed the protests occurring in Canada and Britain regarding her work. She stated, "My film reflects my principles and my deep connection to my country. I encourage you to watch the film and determine for yourselves whether it unites us or divides us."

A passage from the Hindustan Times review of the film noted, “The intermission arrives as Indira declares the emergency, and by that point, you may feel inclined to give up. However, a shift occurs as you resume your seats, and Kangana ultimately takes command. The second half features some powerful moments, along with several emotional scenes, which redeem Emergency. Kangana delivers a commendable performance, making it easier to overlook her prosthetic nose. Pay attention to her, particularly in the scene where she endures a significant personal loss.”

Emergency, co-produced by Zee Studios and Kangana's Manikarnika Films, is a period political thriller featuring a cast that includes Anupam Kher, Satish Kaushik, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhary, and Milind Soman, among others.
