Emergency box office report day 2
Kangana Ranaut's directorial debut commenced with a box office collection of Rs 2.35 crore. As per preliminary estimates from Sacnilk, the political drama garnered Rs 3.5 crore on its second day. The collection for Emergency on day two surpasses the total earnings of Ram Charan and Kiara Advani's Game Changer on its ninth day, which amounted to only Rs 2.65 crore (across all languages).
It will be intriguing to observe the performance of Emergency on the third day of its theatrical release. This film, produced by Kangana Ranaut, Zee Studios, and Renu Pitti, showcases the actress in the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Anupam Kher portrays Jayaprakash Narayan, while Shreyas Talpade takes on the character of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Kangana Ranaut on Emergency
In a discussion with News18, Kangana Ranaut addressed her experience directing Emergency and the postponement of the film's release in theatres. She expressed, "I believed it was an erroneous choice to premiere it in cinemas. I felt I could have secured a more favourable arrangement on OTT platforms. Additionally, I would have avoided the challenges of censorship, and my film would not have been subjected to such scrutiny. I was uncertain about what the CBFC would choose to cut and what they would allow us to retain."
The actress elaborated on the mistakes she has made. "I made poor decisions on various fronts: primarily, my desire to direct this film. I assumed that despite the absence of a Congress government," she stated.
