Post the massive success of HanuMan, the makers of the Teja Sajja starrer chose to produce a low-budget film titled Darling. They roped in Priyadarshi and Nabha Natesh to play the lead roles in the film directed by Aswhin Raam. Darling was promoted a lot by the makers and was released on July 19, 2024.
Darling out on OTT
The comedy caper ended as a massive flop at the box office and was out of theaters in just its first weekend itself. We at OTTplay have already reported that Disney + Hotstar has bagged the OTT rights to the film for a very low price, leaving the makers in a profit one ahead of the film's release itself.
Well, the update is that Darling has started streaming on Hotstar and has taken a dull start. There is not much excitement shown on social media, and not many know that such a film has landed on OTT in the first place. The makers are also not key in promoting their film's OTT release.
Nabha Natesh plays female lead in Darling
Darling is the story of a young man whose only aim in life is to get married and take his wife to Paris for a Honeymoon; sounds weird, right? Well, the film was also boring and narrated in the silliest manner possible. The silly content, overaction by Nabha Natesh, and lack of strong emotions took the film down in no time.
Darling was quite special for Nabha Natesh, as she made a comeback to Telugu cinema after a gap of two long years. She suffered a major accident and was out of action. She played the role of a woman with split personality disorder and was a misfit in her character. Many critics felt that she was the wrong choice to play the character in the film.
The only solace of the film is Priyadarshi's sincere performance, which was lauded by one and all. But still, that could not save the film from sinking. Vivek Sagar composed the film, and Vish Oi played a key role. We need to see how Darling will fare on Hotstar in the days to come. Watch this space for more updates.
