The launch of Daredevil: Born Again on JioHotstar in India is imminent, occurring within just a few hours. This upcoming television series, inspired by the Marvel Comics character Daredevil, has been developed for the Disney+ streaming service by Matt Corman and Chris Ord. It is intended to be the 13th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), maintaining continuity with the franchise's films through the Marvel Studios' Marvel Television label. Born Again serves as both a revival and a continuation of the previous series Daredevil (2015–2018), which originally aired on Netflix and was produced by the former Marvel Television production company. Showrunner Scardapane collaborates with lead directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

Cast and characters

Featuring Vincent D'Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, and Michael Gandolfini, Charlie Cox reprises his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil from Marvel's Netflix series and previous Marvel Studios films. The inaugural season includes performances by Margarita Levieva, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Ayelet Zurer, and Jon Bernthal.

Daredevil: Born Again, which is scheduled to premiere its initial two episodes on Disney+ (JioHotstar in India) on March 4, 2025 (March 5 in India), is included in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The inaugural episode, helmed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, features a script by Dario Scardapane and is set to debut on March 5, 2025. Coinciding with this date, the second episode, directed by Michael Cuesta and penned by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, will also be released. Following closely, the third episode, which is directed by Michael Cuesta and written by Jill Blankenship, is scheduled for release on March 12, 2025.

The fourth episode, under the direction of Jeffrey Nachmanoff and co-written by David Feige and Jesse Wigutow, is anticipated to premiere on March 19, 2025. The fifth episode, also directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff and scripted by Grainne Godfree, is set for release on March 26, 2025. On the same day, the sixth episode, directed by David Boyd and written by Thomas Wong, will be made available.

The seventh episode, directed by David Boyd and authored by Jill Blankenship, currently lacks a confirmed release date. The eighth episode, which is directed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson and written by Jesse Wigutow and Dario Scardapane, has yet to have its release date announced. Finally, the ninth and concluding episode, also directed by Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson and scripted by Heather Bellson and Dario Scardapane, is yet to have its release date confirmed.

All episodes will be available for streaming at 7:30 am on JioHotstar.

Development and reworking of the series

Following the cancellation of Daredevil in 2018, both Cox and D'Onofrio reprised their roles in Marvel Studios projects beginning in 2021. By early 2022, a new Daredevil series was in development, with Corman and Ord appointed as head writers by May. This series adopted an episodic format and a lighter tone compared to the previous Netflix iteration. Announced in July 2022, Born Again was initially slated for an 18-episode first season. However, by late September 2023, Marvel Studios decided to overhaul the series, resulting in the departure of Corman, Ord, and the original creative team. In October 2023, Marvel Studios brought on Scardapane, Benson, and Moorhead to reframe the series in a more serialized manner, aligning it closely with the Netflix version. The original 18 episodes were subsequently divided into two seasons.

Daredevil: Born Again is set several years after the conclusion of Daredevil (2015–2018), focusing on Matt Murdock one year after he has abandoned his vigilante activities. In the first season, Murdock remains dedicated to seeking justice as a lawyer, while former crime lord Wilson Fisk campaigns for the mayoralty of New York City, establishing the groundwork for a significant confrontation.
