Daaku Maharaaj is scheduled to premiere in theaters on January 12, 2025. The recently unveiled trailer has garnered significant attention and boosted pre-release sales. A song named Dabidi Dibidi, showcasing Balakrishna and Urvashi Rautela, was launched a few days prior. Nevertheless, the choreography in the song has sparked considerable discussion, with many viewers expressing their discontent and labeling the dance moves as inappropriate.

Thaman opens up on Dabidi Dibidi song controversy

A notable source of controversy arises from the scene in which Balakrishna strikes Urvashi on the back, a moment that has attracted criticism, including from those within the industry. Thaman, the composer of the accompanying song, is also encountering negative feedback due to the song's loudness and unconventional lyrics.

In a recent interview, Thaman addressed the controversy for the first time. He clarified that such songs are specifically designed for Balakrishna’s fanbase, emphasizing that the actor's charisma enables him to execute any performance without facing significant backlash. “I recognize the trolling, but songs of this nature have been integral to Balakrishna’s career for many years. The enjoyment of the song will be heightened when viewed in theaters,” Thaman remarked

Dabidi Dibidi's dance steps come under the scanner

Renowned Telugu choreographer Sekhar Master is currently facing criticism due to the contentious nature of his dance routines. In an era where the inappropriate representation of women is increasingly scrutinized, this particular song has caught many off guard. A notable director remarked that had Dabidi Dibidi showcased a younger actor or a different celebrity, the media would have likely launched a significant critique. Nevertheless, given that it features Balakrishna, the negative response has been comparatively mild.

The ongoing controversy surrounding the film appears to be advantageous, as producer Naga Vamsi has minimized the significance of the issue, encouraging audiences to appreciate the song within the film's context rather than engage in excessive scrutiny.

The film features Bobby Deol in the role of the primary antagonist, with Chandini Chowdary in a significant part. Naga Vamsi, in collaboration with Trivikram Srinivas, has financed this project on a grand scale. Further updates on this endeavor will be provided soon.
