Instagram and Google algorithm helped Dabba Cartel writers crack the characters
It is essential to immerse oneself in the emotions of that character, which requires a considerable amount of time, she stated in an interview with Fever FM. She also noted that search engines, particularly Instagram and Google, along with their algorithms, played a significant role in assisting the team in understanding the character's traits.
Shibani Dandekar explains the thought process behind cracking each character
The development of each character has been approached with considerable care. This is my inaugural experience in a writers' group, and for every character, we meticulously determined their favorite color, preferred music, clothing style, the starting point of their journey, the challenges they face, their arrival, and overall trajectory—elements that hold significant importance. Additionally, the writer of Dabba Cartel revealed that Jyotika's character endures a notably more challenging journey compared to the others.
Shibani articulated that in order to accurately portray the characters, it is essential to comprehend the diverse backgrounds of the women residing in the housing society, noting that each individual varies significantly in terms of class, status, and financial circumstances, which contributes to their unique experiences. "We needed to thoroughly investigate their motivations for their actions," she remarked, indicating that they were uncertain about the existence of characters similar to those they were depicting, thus limiting their research scope. The production team had to adapt and resolve challenges as filming progressed. Shibani also mentioned that it required extensive hours to refine each character, but eventually, they developed an understanding that allowed them to anticipate the characters' actions.
