Cup: Mathew Thomas' sports drama to hit the big screen on this date

The makers of the Malayalam upcoming film, Cup, have dropped an update on its big screen debut today (September 3). The sports drama, which has Mathew Thomas in lead roles, will have a theatrical release on September 27.
The film, which has a screenplay penned by Akhilesh Latharaj and Denson Durom, is directed by Sanju V Samuel. Under the auspices of Ananya Films, Allwin Antony and Angelena Mary have bankrolled the movie alongside Alphonse Puthran. Cup is centred on the life of 16-year-old Nidhin from Idukki's Vellathuval Village, who aspires to be a professional badminton player and wants to take part in the Olympics someday.

Guru Somasundaram plays Nidhin's father, Babu, while Thushara Pillai plays his mother. Mrinalini Susan George plays Nidhin's sister. Playing Nidhin's friend Raneesh is Basil Joseph. Karthik Vishnu and actress Namitha Pramod will also be featured in significant roles. The female leads in this anticipated feel-good film are Anikha Surendran and debutante Riya Shibu.
The supporting cast includes Anand Roshan, Santhosh Keezhatoor, Nandini Gopalakrishnan, I V Junais, Altaf Manaf, Mridul Pachu, Ranjith Rajan, Chembil Ashokan, Alvin John Antony, Nandu Poduval, and Anandritha Manu.
Six songs written by Manu Manjith and Arsi and composed by Shaan Rahman will be featured in the movie. There are rumours that this film will also feature a reworked version of an old song. The movie will be shown in theatres by Magic Frames.
