At the launch of the trailer for his forthcoming film Crazxy in Mumbai on Monday, Sohum Shah provided an overview of his artistic journey, his enthusiasm for filmmaking, and his experiences across various projects, notably the critically acclaimed Tumbbad.

Sohum reflected on the lengthy process that Tumbbad underwent before its release. “Six years ago, we unveiled the Tumbbad trailer, and now, after six years, our next film is finally set to premiere,” he noted. “Although it took a bit longer, the time was essential. We began working on Crazxy in 2022, and it is now being released in 2025.”

In contrasting Tumbbad with Crazxy, Sohum emphasized the significant differences in their tone and style. “Crazxy is a film that unfolds over a single day, and there are no parallels between the two. Do not anticipate the same experience from Crazxy as you did with Tumbbad,” he stated. “In Tumbbad, we ventured into uncharted territory, and we have adopted a similar approach with Crazxy.” He highlighted the element of unpredictability in Tumbbad, where the audience was continually surprised, a characteristic he assured would also be present in Crazxy. “In Tumbbad, the audience was always left guessing. With Crazxy, it will be the same. The conclusion will leave you pondering,” he remarked.

Sohum also reflected on the uniqueness of his films, recalling the varied reactions to Tumbbad. While some viewers may not have immediately resonated with it, they recognized its innovative nature. “When you view Tumbbad, you might not appreciate the film, but one thing is certain – you will witness something novel,” he explained. “Crazxy promises the same experience. When you exit the theater, you will feel that you have encountered something unprecedented in Indian cinema.”

His dedication to filmmaking is apparent in his creative process. “I create films out of passion,” he expressed. “If I do not produce something fresh and distinctive, I find no joy in it. It is all about crafting something that has not been seen before.”
