Coolie update: Lokesh Kanagaraj drops surprise details about the Rajinikanth film

We had earlier reported that actor Rajinikanth will be teaming up with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a film titled Coolie. While there have been no further updates about the film, the filmmaker treated the fans with a post on social media, dropping the look of Rajinikanth from the film. He also gave an additional piece of information, which you will get know reading further.

On Wednesday, Lokesh Kanagaraj who is currently working with Rajinikanth in Coolie, dropped a photo of himself along with Rajinikanth. The latter was sporting the look he will be carrying in the film. With a salt-and-pepper look, and clad in black shirt with coolers, Rajinikanth is seen smiling as Lokesh takes a photograph in front of the mirror.

In addition, Lokesh Kanagaraj also added that the film will go on floors from July. Coolie marks the first time Lokesh is working with Rajinikanth. The film is produced by Sun Pictures banner and has Anirudh Ravichander, a regular collaborator of Lokesh, scoring the music.

The makers of Coolie are yet to announce the additional cast members of the film. However, it is speculated that actors Sathyaraj and Shobana are roped in to play pivotal roles in Coolie. Girish Gangadharan is reuniting with director Lokesh as the director of photography. Philomin Raj handles the editing.

A release date for Coolie is yet to be announced. It is expected that the film will hit theatres in 2025. It is also highly unlikely Coolie will be part of LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) which includes Vikram, Kaithi and Leo. If the reports are to be believed, the legendary superstar is set to play a unique character, with negative shades in Coolie.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth will be next seen in Vettaiyan, directed by filmmaker TJ Gnanavel. The film is backed by Lyca Productions and is expected to hit theatres in October. The film also features actors Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Dushara Vijayan, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh and others.
