Coolie release date out: Rajinikanth’s film with Lokesh Kanagaraj to release on…
Coolie is undoubtedly one of the most eagerly awaited Tamil films, featuring Rajinikanth in the principal role. As numerous fans anticipate updates, the news of Lokesh Kanagaraj directing Rajinikanth has significantly heightened expectations for the film.
On Friday, the Coolie team revealed that the film is set to be released on August 14. According to reports, it appears that the producers aim to replicate the success of Jailer, which was also launched around the same period in 2023. Jailer, produced by Sun Pictures, starred Rajinikanth in the lead role and achieved remarkable success at the box office.

Coolie- cast and crew
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie boasts a diverse ensemble cast featuring actors from multiple film industries, including Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and others. Pooja Hegde is set to make a special appearance in a dance number, and strong rumors are suggesting that Hindi actor Aamir Khan may also be involved in the project, although his participation has not yet been officially confirmed by the producers.
The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, known for his previous work on Vettaiyan and Jailer. Coolie is described as an action drama and represents the inaugural collaboration between Rajinikanth and Lokesh, though it is not part of the LCU franchise.
In the meantime, Jailer is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium at promotional rates. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, this action thriller features a star-studded cast, including Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Tamannaah, Shivrajkumar, and Jackie Shroff, and has received a favorable response. A sequel to Jailer is currently in development, with the original team of Sun Pictures, Rajinikanth, Nelson, and Anirudh involved in the project.
