Coolie: Manjummel Boys actor Soubin Shahir joins the Rajinikanth-Lokesh Kanagaraj project?

Rajinikanth is currently busy with the shooting of his upcoming 171st outing in films. The project titled Coolie marks the superstar’s first onscreen collaboration with hitmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. Even though the makers dropped a couple of updates on the film, there have been no updates on the star cast yet. However, the grapevine suggests that Soubin Shahir, the Malayalam actor-director best known for the recent blockbuster Manjummel Boys, has joined the star cast of Rajinikanth’s Coolie.
Soubin Shahir joins Rajinikanth’s Coolie?
If the recent updates are to be believed, Soubin Shahir has reportedly joined the star cast of the upcoming Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial. The Manjummel Boys actor is reportedly playing a pivotal character which has grey shades, in the Rajinikanth starrer. Even though the makers have not officially announced Soubin’s collaboration with the project yet, the reports suggest that the actor-director has already started shooting for his debut Tamil project in Chennai. More updates on the same are expected to be out very soon.
Coolie to get a Summer 2025 release?
As per the recent updates, director Lokesh Kanagaraj and his team are planning to shoot Coolie in multiple schedules, that are expected to be wrapped up by the beginning of 2025. The highly anticipated project is reportedly gearing up to have a grand theatrical release during the summer season of 2025. Ahead of the release, the makers are planning to drop major updates on the project, immediately after the team completes the first schedule filming.
As reportedly earlier, Rajinikanth is reuniting with senior actor Sathyaraj for Coolie, after a long gap of over three decades. Fahadh Faasil is expected to reunite with director Lokesh Kanagaraj after the massive success of Vikram, for the film. Shruti Haasan and senior actress Shobana are said to be playing pivotal roles in the project. Anirudh Ravichander is set to compose the songs and original score. Girish Gangadharan is the director of photography. Philomin Raj handles the editing. Coolie is produced by the prestigious banner, Sun Pictures.
