The Karnataka state government's limit of Rs 200 on movie ticket prices has not yet been officially implemented. However, the team behind the upcoming Kannada comedy, Vidyapati, is poised to offer similar advantages to audiences attending the special paid premieres on April 9. Produced by Daali Dhananjaya and featuring Nagabhushana and Malaika Vasupal, known for her role in Upadhyaksha, the film is scheduled for theatrical release on April 10, 2025. In anticipation of this, KRG Studios, the film's distributor in Karnataka, will host paid premieres in select cities.

Vidyapati premiere shows starting at Rs 150 only

On the evening of April 9, ten multiplexes in Bengaluru, along with two in Mysuru and one each in Shivamogga, Tumkur, and Davanagere, will screen a premiere show of Vidyapati at either 7 pm, 7:30 pm, or 9:30 pm. Notably, ticket prices for these shows begin at Rs 150, reaching a maximum of Rs 400 for recliner seats. Advance bookings for most premiere shows are now available on ticket aggregator platforms.

Directed by the duo Esham and Haseen, known for their work on Ikkat, Vidyapati features Malaika as a successful film star named Vidya, who consistently delivers hits. Her husband, Siddu, portrayed by Nagabhushana, humorously refers to himself as Vidyapati and enjoys a luxurious lifestyle supported by her success. When Siddu encounters a local thug named Jaggu, played by Garuda Ram, he must devise a strategy to confront him. The question remains: can Siddu hold his own against Jaggu?

Additionally, Vidyapati includes Dhananjaya in a significant cameo as Jaggu, while Srivatsa Shyam from Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare plays Siddu's friend, Kumara. The film features music by Doss Mode, choreography by Murali Master, and cinematography by Lavith. This marks Dhananjaya's fourth production following Badava Rascal, Head Bush, and Tagaru Palya. While Badava Rascal and Head Bush starred Dhananjaya, Tagaru Palya featured Nagabhushana in the lead role, marking his debut as a leading man in theaters.
