The series has inspired an Italian spinoff named Citadel: Diana and an Indian spinoff called Citadel: Honey Bunny. Recent reports indicate that Amazon Prime Video has decided to cancel these spinoffs as separate series. Instead, their narratives will be integrated into the overarching storyline of Citadel in its second season.

Prime Video cancels Citadel spinoffs

Amazon Prime Video has announced the cancellation of the international spinoffs of Citadel, titled Honey Bunny and Diana, as separate series. Instead, these stories will be integrated into the second season of the original Citadel series, which is set to debut globally in the second quarter of 2026.

Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, remarked, “Although these popular international installments will not proceed as standalone series, we anticipate that Season 2 of ‘Citadel’ will be our most thrilling installment to date.”

He further added, “With high-stakes storytelling, new additions to our amazing cast and bold, cinematic ambition, the new season will deepen the emotional journeys of Nadia, Mason and Orlick against the relentless force that is Manticore. We’re excited to share what’s next when ‘Citadel’ Season 2 premieres globally in Q2 of 2026.”

Indian The spinoff titled Citadel: Honey Bunny features Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the principal roles. The narrative centers on Honey (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) and Bunny (Varun Dhawan) as they navigate a landscape filled with espionage and treachery. The plot unfolds across two distinct timelines: the first in 1992, where Honey, a struggling actress, is enlisted by stuntman Bunny for a covert mission, and the second in 2000, when they find themselves apart and must come together to safeguard their daughter, Nadia.

In parallel, the Italian spinoff Citadel: Diana tells the story of a double agent, Diana Cavalieri, who finds herself trapped behind enemy lines within the Manticore syndicate. Driven by a desire for vengeance for the enigmatic deaths of her parents, which she suspects were orchestrated by Manticore, Diana's journey unfolds. The cast includes Matilda De Angelis as Diana, Lorenzo Cervasio as Edo, and Maurizio Lombardi as Ettore Zani.
