Varun on action scenes in Citadel: Honey Bunny
During the star-studded trailer event attended by the lead cast and makers of the series, Varun Dhawan shared how the action sequences were shot with precision that made them quite impressive.
The 37-year-old actor revealed that the show's creators Raj & DK are engineers and hence they’ve given their best in creating some gripping action sequences. While discussing one of the scenes, Varun shared how Raj & DK suggested the angle of a car action scene. “Both are engineers, so getting that into filmmaking is a very interesting mix. It is a lethal mix, especially when you are doing stunts because they have some cheat codes that normal people don’t know,” Varun shared in the trailer event.
The Badlapur actor also shared that there is an 11-minute one shot between him and Samantha during the climax scene, which is all about relentless action.
Raj & DK, who are renowned for Prime Video’s The Family Man, also lauded the lead actors, Varun and Samantha, and revealed that no stunt doubles were used for action as both of them did a good job.
Varun on his Citadel: Honey Bunny character
Varun Dhawan, who plays the titular character of Bunny in the action thriller, spoke about his role and how the web series is set in the 90s with multiple references from the era.
“It was starting afresh only, we didn’t had any references to look up to because we’re based in the 90s, so had to rely a lot on the things built in the 90s. Bunny is an orphan and Kay Kay Menon sir plays Baba who is like a mentor figure for me and that’s how everything unfolds,” Varun added. The Kalank actor also revealed that since the series is set in the 90s, Hindi film references including the music were used as the backdrop in the entire series.
Citadel: Honey Bunny
It is a part of the global franchise Citadel and is among one of the highly anticipated releases for the streaming giant. The American spy actioner, Citadel, featuring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden as the leading duo is getting its Indian version with Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
Prime Video expanded the Citadel universe with Italian and Indian versions. The Indian installment titled Citadel: Honey Bunny is created by Raj & DK along with Sita Menon. Packed with intense drama, action and unconventional love, the series seems like a promising watch. It also stars Kay Kay Menon, Simran Bagga, Sikandar Kher and Saqib Saleem in pivotal roles.
