Vishwambhara is Megastar Chiranjeevi's upcoming film, which has been in production for over a year. Originally scheduled for a Sankranthi 2025 release, the fantasy drama was delayed at the last moment to accommodate the release of Ram Charan's Game Changer, which premiered on January 10, 2025.

We at OTTplay have learned that the makers of Vishwambhara have set the release date for May 9, 2025, with an official confirmation expected soon. This date holds special significance as it marks the anniversary of Chiranjeevi's biggest hit to date, Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari, which was also released on May 9. This sentimental connection played a key role in choosing the release date.

Directed by Vassitha, who made his debut with Bimbisara (starring Kalyan Ram), Vishwambhara came to life after Chiranjeevi personally approached Vassitha following the success of Bimbisara. He asked the director to write a script, which eventually led to the creation of Vishwambhara.

A teaser for the film was released some time ago, but it received mixed reactions due to the VFX being perceived as subpar. Industry rumours suggest that Chiranjeevi personally requested the makers to revamp the visual effects, which has contributed to the delay in the film's release.

Chiranjeevi's last two films ended as massive flops

It has been a while since Chiranjeevi graced the big screen. His last film, Acharya, was a huge box-office disappointment and received harsh criticism. This was followed by Bholaa Shankar, which struggled to maintain momentum beyond its opening week. After taking a break, Chiranjeevi signed Vishwambhara, a project he hopes will mark his triumphant return to success.
