He’s a Tamil superstar who constantly challenges himself and strives for more with each film. For the movie I, directed by Shankar, he shed an incredible 34 kgs. In another film, Kasi, directed by Vinayan, he had to keep his eyelids rolled up for several months, which affected his vision. Following the success of Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2, as well as Thangalaan, Vikram—affectionately known as Chiyaan Vikram by his fans—is making his return to the big screen with the release of Veera Dheera Sooran part 2, directed by SU Arun Kumar, on March 27.

During a chat with the crew and cast, Vikram shared, “Veera Dheera Sooran is one of the most fulfilling films I've ever been a part of. When SU Arun Kumar first told me the story, I was hooked right from the start. Dhruv (my son), Manu, and I couldn't help but applaud when he wrapped up the narration. I was genuinely excited about the chance to collaborate with him.”

Regarding the director's earlier projects

The Mahaan star shared his admiration for director Arun Kumar’s earlier films, particularly ‘Sethupathi’ and ‘Chittha’. He remarked, “Chittha was incredible. What makes the film stand out is how it addresses a very sensitive issue (child sexual abuse) without showing it directly on screen. Arun handled such a serious topic with great finesse. He did an excellent job with the storyline and the film's cinematography. Even the supporting characters were given significant attention in Chittha. It took a lot of courage to create a film like this. I knew he could produce commercial hits from watching Sethupathi, but his ability to tackle a film like Chittha really showcased his depth as a director,” Vikram explained.

When discussing Veera Dheera Sooran, the Tamil star expressed how much he enjoyed collaborating on this project, especially with Arun Kumar and the cast. Vikram even suggested they hold acting workshops before filming began. Director SU Arun Kumar mentioned that he developed a strong emotional bond with Vikram during the production. “I’ve always had the chance to work with wonderful people like Vikram. I feel really fortunate in that regard,” Arun Kumar said with a smile.
