Vicky Kaushal's highly anticipated standalone film, Chhaava, has officially premiered in theaters, demonstrating promising box office performance. Released on February 14, 2025, the film narrates the tale of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire, highlighting his valor. The cast also features Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in significant roles. On its opening day, the film exhibited robust growth in Maharashtra while achieving a commendable start in other regions.

Chhaava Day 1 Box Office

Produced by Maddock Films, this Dinesh Vijan project is projected to conclude its first-day earnings at around Rs 20 crore net, as reported by Pinkvilla. Should these figures be accurate, there is a strong possibility that the collaboration between Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna will become the largest Bollywood opener of 2025 to date.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava will face competition from Captain America: Brave New World at the Indian box office. Additionally, the historical drama will run concurrently with Loveyapa, Badass Ravi Kumar, and the re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam. The report further indicates that this film will likely take screens away from Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor's project, as well as Himesh Reshammiya's Ravi Kumar.

Chhaava to be the Biggest Opener for V-Day?

The advance ticket sales for Chhaava suggest that audiences are enthusiastic about welcoming Vicky Kaushal to the big screen. The pre-sales for this period drama have been exceptional, ranking as the third-highest in advance bookings for 2025, following Game Changer and Vidaamuyarchi.

With approximately 3,400 screenings, the film has successfully sold tickets amounting to Rs 8.40 crore gross (excluding blocked seats) in Maharashtra alone. Thanks to strong support from this region, Vicky's Chhaava concluded its Day 1 advance bookings with an impressive Rs 13.85 crore gross (excluding blocked seats).

If the film exceeds Rs 20 crore in collections on its opening day, it will set a new record as the largest Bollywood opener on Valentine's Day, surpassing Gully Boy's net collection of Rs 19.40 crore.
