Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan through Maddock Pictures, Chhaava is inspired by the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire, who reigned from 1681 to 1689. The film is presented on an impressive scale and features Rashmika Mandanna in the role of Yesubai Bhonsale, Divya Dutta as Sambhaji Maharaj's stepmother Soyarabai, and Akshaye Khanna portraying Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. As reported by Sacnilk, on its ninth day of release, coinciding with Chhaava’s second Saturday, the film garnered ₹44 crore at the domestic box office. This brings its total box office earnings to an impressive ₹286.75 crore, marking a significant achievement. The film is on the verge of reaching the ₹300 crore milestone, which would make it Vicky Kaushal’s first film to reach this landmark, further establishing his reputation as a reliable star.

 Chhaava commenced its box office journey with an impressive ₹31 crore on February 14, followed by ₹37 crore on Saturday and ₹48.5 crore on Sunday. However, the film experienced a decline on Monday, garnering ₹24 crore, and maintained a similar performance throughout the weekdays. It achieved ₹25.25 crore on Tuesday and ₹32 crore on Wednesday, benefiting from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti holiday. On Thursday, the film earned ₹21.5 crore, and on Friday, it collected ₹23 crore. As the film approaches its second Sunday, it will be intriguing to observe the new milestones it may achieve.

Vicky Kaushal recounted a fascinating story regarding the filming of the Rajya Abhishek scene in the film, as reported by Hindustan Times. He remarked that the sequence, featuring Sambhaji's approach to the throne, held significant importance. With thousands of individuals present on set, the scene had been thoroughly researched and eagerly anticipated. However, what rendered the experience truly extraordinary was the realization that the date of the shoot—January 16, 2024—coincided precisely with the 350th anniversary of the actual coronation that took place at Raigad Fort on January 16, 1681.
