Chhaava, a film directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Pictures, chronicles the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire, who reigned from 1681 to 1689. This grand-scale production features Rashmika Mandanna in the role of Yesubai Bhonsale, Divya Dutta as Sambhaji Maharaj's stepmother Soyarabai, and Akshaye Khanna portraying Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The film premiered in Indian theaters on February 14, 2025.
Following a notable increase of 19.35% in its second day’s earnings compared to the first, Chhaava experienced an even more significant rise on its third day, achieving a 30% boost. On this day, the film garnered ₹48.5 crore at the Indian box office, as reported by Sacnilk. With earnings of ₹31 crore on the opening day and ₹37 crore on the second day, the cumulative collection now totals ₹116.5 crore. As the film transitions into the weekday market, it faces its true challenge starting today. Chhaava Gets 6 AM Shows in Pune
Chhaava, inspired by the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and derived from a novel of the same title, emerged as one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year. Featuring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna in leading roles, the film is helmed by director Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Pictures. According to recent updates from Koimoi, Chhaava has recorded an impressive 95% occupancy rate in Pune, leading theaters to expand their schedules by adding early morning and late-night showings.
Numerous theaters in Pune have recently commenced 6:00 AM screenings, a notable achievement in the Indian film industry. Beginning Sunday, various theaters in both Mumbai and Pune have also initiated midnight showings, thereby prolonging their operating hours into the late night. As reported by HT, cinemas in smaller towns have even adopted 6:00 AM and 1:00 AM screenings, according to exhibitor accounts. The midnight showings have been expanded to include times such as 12:45 AM, 1:00 AM, 1:15 AM, and even 1:30 AM. Nevertheless, the implementation of some of these additional screenings is still pending.
