Suraj Venjaramoodu's film ED-Extra Decent premiered in theatres throughout Kerala on Friday, while simultaneously, two of his other films have been released on OTT platforms. The film Madanolsavam, featuring Suraj Venjaramoodu in the leading role, is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.

Madanolsavam on Prime Video

Suraj Venjaramoodu's film Madanolsavam premiered on Prime Video on December 20, 2024. This political satire is presented in Malayalam and includes English subtitles. Directed by Sudheesh Gopinath, the screenplay was written by Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval. The cast also includes notable performances by Babu Antony and Rajesh Madhavan in significant roles.

Madanolsavam plot

Suraj Venjaramoodu portrays Madanan Mallakkara, an average individual from Kerala who earns his livelihood by selling coloured chickens. Madanan's routine existence is dramatically altered when he is nominated to run as a namesake candidate in an election. This practice involves individuals with names similar to actual candidates entering the electoral race, potentially influencing the election results. This phenomenon is a well-known aspect of the political landscape in Kerala, and director Sudheesh Gopinath, along with writer Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, has crafted a narrative centred around this theme.

Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval is recognized for his works such as Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham and Nna Thaan Case Kodu, the latter being a courtroom satire.

The writer-director partnership effectively highlights various elements of the state's political environment as Madanan navigates the complexities of party affiliations, all while infusing humour into the storyline. In Madanolsvam, Suraj Venjaramoodu once again demonstrates his versatility. However, the film succumbs to predictability in its latter half, resulting in a diminished engagement for the audience.

Mura also on Prime Video

In addition, another film featuring Suraj Venjaramoodu has been incorporated into the content library of Prime Video. The action thriller titled Mura, which includes a number of new actors, is now available for streaming on the platform. The film stars Hridhu Haroon, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Mala Parvathy in key roles, and it is directed by Muhammad Mustafa, known for his work on Kappela. The film is exclusively presented in Malayalam, accompanied by English subtitles.
