Barroz had its big screen debut on December 25, creating quite a buzz, especially since it was filmed in 3D. This film is a special project for Mohanlal, as it's his directorial debut, and he also stars in the lead role. As per Sacnilk, the movie raked in around ₹3.65 crore net in India on its first day.

Barroz's earnings at the box office

Barroz reportedly raked in around ₹3.65 crore net on its first day, which isn’t great when you compare it to his last film, Malaikottai Vaaliban, that hit theaters back in January.

That one, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, pulled in ₹5.65 crore net in India on its opening day. However, it also faced a drop in earnings due to mixed reviews, ending up with ₹13.97 crore over 18 days and a total of ₹29.75 crore globally. With Barroz's opening numbers, it'll be interesting to see how it performs in the next few days..

Mohanlal performing in Hindi films

Mohanlal really got behind Barroz before it hit theaters. While promoting the film in Mumbai, someone asked him if he’d consider acting in Bollywood. He said, “I’ve done a few Hindi films like Company and RGV Ki Aag. But these days, most of my films are just dubbed in Hindi. If someone reaches out to me for a role, I’m totally up for it. I don’t mind at all. As actors, we don’t really have a choice. So, let it come. Let it happen.”

Barroz stars Mohanlal in the lead role, alongside Maya Rao West, Cesar Lorente Raton, Ignacio Mateos, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Nerea Camacho, and Tuhin Menon in important parts. The movie is based on Jijo Punnoose’s book, Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure. Although Mohanlal's acting has received positive feedback, the film itself has faced criticism for not being very deep.
