But that doesn't mean things come easy for the filmmaker who has never made a movie that follows the trending runtime. Inglourious Basterds is easily one of his finest movies of all time, and one that even worked at the box office re-establishing him as the mass and class filmmaker, which is a rare breed. But did you know there was a time when he was so confused that he ended up thinking of turning the Brad Pitt starrer’s script into a miniseries?

Inglourious Basterds Was Almost Turned Into A Miniseries?

Well, that is another fact, and we are not going as per rumors, but Quentin’s words. Inglourious Basterds is a script that Quentin Tarantino was working on right after he completed Jackie Brown in 1998. After failing to find a concrete climax, he shelved it and went on to make Kill Bill Vol 1 and Kill Bill Vol 2. Following them came Death Proof which did get good reviews from the critics, but ultimately bombed at the box office. This failure led him to question his film choices and in no time he had to revisit Inglourious Basterds. But there was a catch here too. Read on to know everything you should about the same.

At the time when he was already out of a box office failure, pitching Inglourious Basterds was not an easy job for Quentin Tarantino. The filmmaker, in an interview according to Screenrant, spoke about how the idea was big and unwieldy. To add, the scale was very high and the script was long. Quentin did everything to make it crisper and find the right climax for a workable future. But looking at all of this, he even thought of turning the script into a miniseries.

Talking about turning Inglourious Basterds into a miniseries, Quentin Tarantino said, “After Jackie Brown, I put Kill Bill off to the side, and I started writing Inglourious Basterds, and that became this never-ending process, because people thought I was going through writer's block, you know, I was going through the opposite. I couldn't stop writing. I'd have a 100-page script and no end in sight. So I was trying to keep taming it, and I couldn't. [...] My idea at the time, because it was just so big and so unwieldy, was to do it as a miniseries, and that really was what I was planning on doing.”
