On November 22, 2024, two noted actors, Vishwak Sen and Satyadev, had releases in the form of Mechanic Rocky and Zebra, respectively. The makers of these films were so confident that they arranged premiere shows a day ahead of the release date. Both films initially garnered positive word of mouth from critics and the general audience. However, as days passed, they faltered significantly at the box office.
Mechanic Rocky's latest box office collections
First in line is Mechanic Rocky, which has grossed only ₹5.3 crore after four days of its release, a disappointing figure considering Vishwak Sen's market in the Telugu states. Despite receiving good initial feedback, the commercial drama suffered from low occupancy. Even on Sunday, it saw only 30% occupancy in key areas of release.
On the other hand, Zebra, featuring Satyadev, has been a complete washout at the box office. The heist thriller has struggled immensely, earning just ₹2 crore to date. This poor performance reflects the lackluster response Zebra has received from audiences. Satyadev, despite his efforts to defend the film and criticize reviewers for their harsh assessments, couldn’t salvage its fortunes at the box office.
Mechanic Rocky and Zebra OTT platform details
Amazon Prime has acquired the digital rights for Mechanic Rocky, while Aha has secured the OTT rights for Zebra at a premium price. Thanks to these deals, the makers have managed to recover some losses and are in a relatively safe zone. According to our sources, both films are set to stream on OTT platforms in the third week of December 2024.
Vishwak Sen, a popular actor, promoted Mechanic Rocky aggressively, but the film marks his second consecutive flop following Gangs of Godavari. Meanwhile, Satyadev continues to struggle to establish himself as a viable solo lead in Telugu cinema. Though he is admired for his acting prowess, his box-office appeal remains limited. It will be interesting to see how he navigates his career moving forward.
