Box Office Milestone: Pushpa 2 Becomes First Hindi Dubbed Film to Hit ₹700 Crore

Sukumar's Telugu action thriller, Pushpa 2: The Rule, has further expanded its impressive record at the box office. According to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the dubbed version of the Allu Arjun-led film has achieved the milestone of being the first Hindi film to generate ₹700 crore in earnings at the Indian box office, thereby setting a new benchmark for the ₹700 crore club within the domestic market.

The following films have been pivotal in establishing the ₹100 crore club and subsequent milestones:

Ghajini – ₹100 crore

The 2008 revenge drama Ghajini, directed by A.R. Murugadoss and featuring Aamir Khan and Asin in leading roles, marked a significant achievement as the first Hindi film to surpass ₹100 crore at the Indian box office. This film was a Hindi adaptation of Murugadoss' earlier Tamil success of the same name. Prior to Ghajini, Farah Khan's 2007 film Om Shanti Om, starring Shah Rukh Khan, was the first Hindi film to reach ₹90 crore in India, followed by Vipul Shah's comedy Singh Is Kinng, featuring Akshay Kumar, the following year.

Ghajini became the first Hindi film to earn ₹100 crore at the Indian box office.

3 Idiots – ₹200 crore

In 2010, another film starring Aamir Khan made history by becoming the first Hindi film to earn ₹200 crore at the domestic box office. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, this coming-of-age comedy also featured Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Boman Irani.

PK – ₹300 crore

The collaboration of Vinod, Rajkumar, and Aamir achieved another milestone in 2014 with their sci-fi satire, which established the ₹300 crore club at the Indian box office. The film also included performances by Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt, and Saurabh Shukla.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – ₹400 crore, ₹500 crore

The dubbed adaptation of SS Rajamouli's 2017 historical epic achieved remarkable milestones by becoming the first Hindi film to surpass both the ₹400 crore and ₹500 crore thresholds at the domestic box office, despite being a dubbed version of a Telugu production. The film features performances by Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, and Ramya Krishnan.

The dubbed version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion became the first Hindi film to earn ₹400 crore and ₹500 crore.

Stree 2 – ₹600 crore

Earlier this year, Amar Kaushik's horror-comedy sequel made its mark in Indian cinema by becoming the first Hindi film to cross the ₹600 crore milestone. The cast includes Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee.

Pushpa 2: The Rule – ₹700 crore

This month, another dubbed version of a Telugu blockbuster has made headlines. Taran Adarsh announced on his X account, “700 NOT OUT... #Pushpa2 scripts HISTORY... Inaugurates the ₹ 700 cr Club [on Day 19], setting a new benchmark... The phenomenal trending has been unprecedented. With #Christmas and #NewYear celebrations just around the corner, #Pushpa2 is expected to continue its record-breaking run.” The Hindi version of the film, featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, has currently amassed ₹704.25 crore.
