Box Office February 2025: Indian Films Gross ₹1245 Cr, ‘Chhaava’ Reigns Supreme

The Indian box office has maintained its strong performance from January into February, achieving a gross collection of ₹1,245 crore for the month. Vicky Kaushal's film Chhaava emerged as the leading contributor, representing 53% of the total box office revenue for February.

Box Office Overview  

As reported by Ormax Media in The India Box Office Report for February, the Indian box office recorded a total business of ₹1,245 crore at the domestic level, which includes anticipated future earnings from February releases that are still screening in theatres.

Chhaava, a period drama featuring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, was released on February 14 and accounted for 53% of the month's box office revenue. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film is a biopic centred on the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

It is important to note that only the Hindi-language box office figures are included in this report regarding Chhaava, as its Telugu version is set to be released in March 2025.

Currently, the total box office earnings for releases in 2025 have reached ₹2,264 crore, marking a 39% increase compared to the same timeframe in 2024. This February has also recorded the highest earnings since the pandemic.

Top ten films of February 2025

According to the report, Chhaava has become the highest-grossing film of the month, amassing over ₹650 crore, thus securing its place among the highest-grossing Hindi films in history. The only other film to surpass the ₹100 crore threshold in February 2025 is the Tamil film Dragon, which has achieved significant success, outperforming the high-budget Tamil production Vidaamuyarchi.

In the rankings, Dragon occupies the second position, followed by Vidaamuyarchi, Thandel, Sanam Teri Kasam, Officer On Duty, Interstellar, Captain America: Brave New World, Crazxy, and Mazaka.

The report also noted a robust trend in re-releases, with Sanam Teri Kasam and Interstellar appearing in the list of the ten highest-grossing films for this month.

As a result of Chhaava's success, the share of Hindi films has increased to 45% for January-February 2025, compared to 40% for the entire calendar year of 2024.
