Nearly two months after its theatrical release, Bordelands has made it to OTT in India, but there's a catch. The film has dropped on Prime Video, but it is available for rent at Rs. 149. Based on the Gearbox Software video game series, Eli Roth co-wrote and directed the 2024 science fiction action comedy film Borderlands. Featuring Cate Blanchett in the role of outlaw Lillith, the film follows a group of misfits as they band together to locate the lost daughter of the universe's most powerful man. Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, Edgar Ramirez, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Jamie Lee Curtis are all part of the ensemble cast.

The plot: Misfits on a mission to save the galaxy

The most turbulent planet in the galaxy, Pandora, is home to the notorious bounty hunter Lilith (Blanchett), who reluctantly returns with an enigmatic past. Her objective is to locate the abducted daughter of the most powerful supervillain in the universe, Atlas (Ramírez). Lilith unexpectedly teams up with a motley crew of misfits, including the mission-minded mercenary Roland (Hart), the untamed preteen demolitionist Tina (Greenblatt), Tina's muscular guardian Krieg (Munteanu), the eccentric scientist Tannis (Curtis), and the shrewd robot Claptrap (Black). In order to uncover one of Pandora's most explosive secrets, these improbable heroes will need to fight an extraterrestrial species and treacherous outlaws together. They may fight for each other, as well as for the cosmos.

Critics were unimpressed, and the film bombed at the box office, earning just $33 million globally despite a production expenditure of $110–120 million.

Cate Blanchett's experience and motivation

Blanchett gushed about the element of pleasure she had while shooting for the project, explaining why she decided to star in the film. The actor became completely engrossed in the entire universe. She was spending a lot of time in the garden, maybe a bit too freely with the chainsaw, so she guesses there might have been a touch of COVID crazy as well. This film could save her life, her husband warned.

Meanwhile, Roth has said that he wanted to kill off cosplayers and have them appear in the film as extras.
