Jeet is back with his film, Boomerang. Along with the superstar, the sci-fi film also features Rukmini Maitra, Saurav Das, Debchandrima, Rajatava Dutta, Ambarish Bhattacharya, and others. The film was released on June 7 and has been receiving warm response from viewers.

Jeet, who has been working on action-packed thrillers for a while, chose to work in a sci-fi film. Here, he plays the character of a scientist, Samar Sen. Why this sudden change? In an interview with OTTplay, the actor said that relentless action films became monotonous for him as an actor. He further added that since his recent films were largely based on grim subjects, he wanted to work on something uplifting. “I was feeling that I should do something lighter – like a comedy. Post-COVID, my films were a little in the dark phase – underworld, etc. Criminal activities are there in this one also, but not in the dark space. It is wrapped in comedy and there are no killings at all. Shouvik (Kundu, director) watched this theatre and told us. We went ahead with the idea,” he said.

In the film, Samar Sen, aka Jeet, creates a humanoid robot, Nisha (played by Rukmini). The film involves a lot of VFX and Jeet’s production team hired high-end VFX artists for the job. It goes without saying that VFX involves a lot of money. Jeet said that he was willing to take the risk because he felt it was important for the film. Elaborating on this, he said, “Film business is a risky business as it is. We, in fact, focused and invested in visuals. Our job as makers and producers taught us to understand how to get the right visuals. We have a fabulous VFX team.”
