The role of the officer ultimately went to Darshan Kumaar, while Bobby excelled in his performance as Baba Nirala. This opportunity arose when Prakash Jha expressed confidence in Bobby's ability to embody a character he had not previously portrayed. Bobby Deol shared his thoughts on the matter.

Bobby Deol expected to be cast as a police officer in Aashram

In a conversation with ANI, Bobby Deol disclosed that upon receiving the offer for Aashram, he assumed that Prakash Jha would likely assign him the role of a police officer, adhering to conventional casting choices. Therefore, he was pleasantly surprised when he was offered the role of the Godman. “When I received the message from Prakash ji requesting a meeting and subsequently heard the story, I thought he would propose the police officer role. However, when he said, ‘You will play the role of Baba,’ I was taken aback,” he remarked.

Aashram marked Bobby Deol’s OTT debut

Aashram presented itself to Bobby Deol at a time when he was seeking new opportunities. The actor demonstrated his acting prowess through the series, establishing himself as an OTT star with his portrayal of Baba Nirala. The show showcases Deol in a variety of roles and is particularly noted for its compelling content and the execution of its captivating storyline.

While continuing his work on Aashram, Bobby Deol also found success in the theatrical realm. His most recent role was that of Abrar, where he served as the primary antagonist in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, providing formidable competition to Ranbir Kapoor's character, Ranvijay Singh. Although the character may not return in Animal Park, he remains a memorable figure among fans of the film's universe.

The second part of Aashram season 3, featuring Aaditi Pohankar and Chandan Roy Sanyal in prominent roles, is set to premiere on Amazon MX Player on February 28.
