Bobby Deol on his anti-hero role in Aashram

At the trailer launch event for Ek Badnaam Aashram Season 3 Part 2, Bobby Deol expressed his initial reluctance to inform his father, Dharmendra, and brother, Sunny Deol, about his anti-hero role in the series. He noted that he accepted this role at a time when he realized that traditional hero roles were no longer being offered to him.

Bobby remarked, "As actors, we aspire to embody characters that differ from our real-life personas. I was actively pursuing varied roles when Aashram presented itself to me. Understanding that hero roles were no longer in my future, I chose not to inform my family about my decision to join this project. I wanted them to experience it first before sharing their thoughts."

The actor mentioned that the theme of Aashram was such that had he disclosed it to his parents or his brother (Sunny Deol), they would have likely questioned his decision, asking, "Why are you pursuing this?"

Nevertheless, he placed his trust in his wife, who understood his quest for a significant role. "She encouraged me, saying, 'Follow your heart. I’m with you,'" he reminisced.

Bobby Deol reflects on his family's reaction to Aashram.

He shared that his family's response to Aashram was overwhelmingly positive.

He expressed that it felt surreal, as his mother received numerous calls from her friends commending his performance.

"My father (veteran actor Dharmendra) informed me that his friends were reaching out to him to praise my work. Even my brother was getting messages from his friends wanting to connect with me," he recalled.
