Bringing a film to theatres remains one of the biggest challenges for Kannada filmmakers. If it is a relatively new team with a small but experimental film, it gets even tougher. The makers of the Kannada film Blink had an uphill task not only in bringing it to theatres , but then also to retain it in theatre halls after positive word-of-mouth publicity began trickling in. After a 50-day theatrical run, Blink headed to OTT, where it was first made available to overseas audiences and now, for people in India.

Blink, directed by Srinidhi Bengaluru, also stars Vajradheer Jain, Gopalkrishna Deshpande and Chaithra J Achar, among others. The film is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and, as has been the case with other small films with fresh subjects and making style, it is getting a lot of love from audiences, with many also regretting not having watched it in theatres.

Comments ranged from, “Sakkath intelligent movie” to, “Pushes boundaries of imagination and science”, “Engaging time travel story”, “Mind-blowing climax”, “Must-watch movie with beautiful story-telling”, “Brilliant plot, screenplay and direction”, “We need more films like Blink”, “Can watch without hesitation,” among others. A few Telugu audiences who watched the film were also highly appreciative of the Dheekshith Shetty-led film, but also urged the makers to consider dubbing it in a few more languages. Blink is currently available with Kannada audio and English subtitles only.

What's Blink about?

Blink follows young Apurva (Dheekshith Shetty), who lives in Bengaluru and does sundry jobs to support himself, while also waiting to clear a couple of subjects he failed in his PG. An elderly man observing Apurva tells him that the story he’s been told about his father abandoning the family when he was young, may not be all there is to it. The old man, Arivu (Suresh Anagalli), offers Apurva a peak into the past, but what the latter then finds out, is not at all what he was expecting.
