Season 7 of Charlie Brooker's dark and satirical anthology series Black Mirror is currently in production, with six new episodes set to premiere on Netflix in 2025. However, it seems like many viewers are still not finished sorting through their feelings and ideas regarding season 6. Geeked Week, Netflix's massive annual festival honouring all things fandom, announced the forthcoming season's main cast. Brooker, who took the stage at the live event in Atlanta on September 19, also dropped hints.
Blend of genres and feature-length episodes
Brooker informed the energised Geeked Week crowd that they can expect a mix of genres and styles. This time around, they have six episodes, two of which are nearly feature length. Some upsetting, some funny, and some moving.
According to Brooker, the season has returned to its roots. His description of the current season as "kind of OG Black Mirror" was his final comment. As a result, it's all techno-dystopian science fiction.
Sequel to USS Callister
While Brooker and the rest of the Black Mirror creative team are keeping spoilers to themselves, they have hinted at one big piece of information: the now-iconic USS Callister from the Season 4 premiere will have a sequel in one of the episodes.
When asked about the return of a certain spaceship's crew, Brooker assured fans that they would remember them from one of the show's episodes. This marks the inaugural sequel in the history of Black Mirror. Although he usually eliminates all characters at the conclusion of each episode, he quipped that he decided to keep a few alive, and he is developing as a person.
Those famous A skilled but disturbed programmer, Robert Daly co-created a successful online video game; the focus of Season 4's episode was on him. Feeling underappreciated at his gaming company, Robert decides to take matters into his own hands by creating a virtual reality within the game. In this reality, he assumes the position of a Captain Kirk-like figure on a starship, leading an enthusiastic crew—made up of his real-life coworkers—on wild science fiction adventures. Since this is Black Mirror, it had a dark and unexpected turn of events.
