To the delight of movie buffs, several Malayalam films were released digitally this weekend. Given the variety of genres these films tackled, the OTT release of each of these films was eagerly awaited.

Turbo (Sony LIV)

Director: Vysakh

Cast: Mammootty, Raj B Shetty, Anjana Jayaprakash and Bindu Panicker

Genre: Action thriller

Turbo Jose, played by Mammootty, has to relocate to Chennai after averting the inevitable end of a young couple's relationship. He gets drawn into a wider conspiracy in Chennai that involves mob bosses, underworld organisations, and police.

Golam (Amazon Prime Video)

Director: Samjad P S

Cast: Ranjith Sajeev, Dileesh Pothan and Sunny Wayne

Genre: Medical thriller

The movie's central plot revolved around the strange events that led to businessman Isaac John's untimely death in the lavatory of the company. The case is assigned to Sandeep Krishnan, a young police officer, and his team. The main mystery of the movie is whether the murder was an accident or an outcome of personal grudges or retaliation.

Nadanna Sambhavam (Manorama Max)

Director: Vishnu Narayan

Cast: Biju Menon, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Lijomol and Shruti Ramachandran

Genre: Family drama

Sukumaran Unni's interactions with the women in the neighbourhood put the men in danger after he and his family move into a residential colony. When some of them start gossiping during their late-night parties, their concerns reach a breaking point. When one of them finds Unni at his house with another woman, things go wrong and the police intervenes.

Indian 2 (Netflix)

Director: Shankar

Cast: Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, SJ Suryah and Bobby Simha

Genre: Action drama

The movie, which is also available to stream on Netflix in Malayalam, centres on Senapathy, a freedom fighter who transforms into a vigilante to fight against corruption. The 1996 movie Indian, in which Kamal Haasan played the lead roles of two characters, is the prequel of Indian 2. The film received harsh reviews and criticism when it came out in theatres on July 12.
