Kannada actor-filmmaker Duniya Vijay, who is now going by the moniker Sandalwood Salaga after his debut directorial Salaga, is gearing up to bring his second venture as director to audiences. Bheema is releasing on August 9 and after months of stoic silence about what his film is about, Vijay finally gave audiences a glimpse of what is in store with the trailer.
The film was recently censored and certified A, so, it was a given that there would be action, blood-shed, raw and intense drama and adequate dialogues. The trailer highlights all of that, and still doesn’t reveal much by way of plot. What is certain, though, is that unlike Salaga, Bheema will have a lot more of Vijay onscreen. He also introduces most of the main characters of the film, with the cast now a talking point. The trailer is also testimony to the fact that the film will be technically sound and looks well made. It also raises expectations of being the film that will raise the Kannada film industry from the slump that it currently finds itself in.
Like Salaga, Bheema too is a gritty underworld tale, a subject that Vijay is more comfortable with. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Vijay had said that the subject is relevant to the youth, and the trailer suggests that narcotics is a pivotal angle of the tale. Charanraj’s BGM in the trailer is also quite the highlight, with the musician being quoted as saying that he enjoys a certain creative freedom when working with filmmakers who give him a certain direction, but then let him have a free reign.
Produced by Krishna Sarthak and Jagadeesh Gowda, Bheema also stars Dragon Manju, Cockroach Suddhi, Ramesh Indira, Gopalkrishna Deshpande, Achyuth Kumar, Girija, Kalyani Raju, among many others.
