While we all have been waiting for Squid Game 2 with bated breath, Gong Yoo has another surprise in the pipeline. He will be seen in a thriller K-Drama called The Trunk. Coming from the makers of It's Okay Not To Be Okay, The Trunk features acclaimed actress Seo Hyun-jin as the female lead. Here's everything you wanted to know about the upcoming K-Drama.
What is The Trunk all about?
The Trunk is the story of a couple that is in a contractual marriage for a year. If you think this complicates things, you have hit the bullseye. Han Jeong-won (Gong Yoo) is just learning about his temporary wife Nih In-ji (Hyun-jin), which is when a trunk, found at the seashore, takes their own lives by storm.
The hook point of The Trunk
The biggest hook point of The Trunk is the contractual wedding for a year. What made the couple say yes and sign the contract? This is revealed, at least from one side. In-ji tells her temporary husband that she detests even the idea of marriage. "It disgusts me," she confesses in the teaser unveiled. Although we know one side of the story, at least at the surface, Gong Yoo's Jeong-won is a character waiting to be explored.
When and where will the Trunk release?
The Trunk is a part of Netflix. The K-Drama is expected to be out on November 29, which is almost a month before Squid Game 2. Well, the bonus is that viewers get an extra dose of Gong Yoo and none of us can complain about it one bit.
Squid Game 2 will be a continuation of the original series which shook the entire world for a good amount of time. The fear instilled with the ‘game’ was too high to come out of, and the makers are already here with a new season. Gong Yoo, who was introduced as a salesman who lures people into playing the game by giving them the deadly invitation (to an almost certain death), might just have more of a role to play this time around, for he might not be just the salesman but rather the mastermind behind the whole concept that feeds on fear. But, we will have to wait till December 26 to figure that out.
