Filmmakers' experimentation with various formats of movie-making is always exciting to witness. With each new format, there is always something fresh that a filmmaker taps into, often leading to great experimental works. One such filmmaker is Eric Blue. The English filmmaker was mainly known for his short films that had traveled the world before he made his feature debut. For a filmmaker who found peace in mainly humane and rooted stories, he chose a sci-fi thriller to make his feature debut in 2016. We are talking about Beacon Point, which was released almost a decade ago, marking Blue’s foray into the long format. But where can we watch the movie in India? We have got your back.
Beacon Point On OTT
In the past many months, Playflix, a budding Indian streaming platform, has served some of the most nuanced movies and shows. The streaming platform mainly focuses on releasing Korean shows and movies, not just in the original language but also in English and several regional languages too. This time, they are all set to re-release a Hollywood movie on their streamer, and it is none other than Beacon Point. Read on to know everything you should about the same.
Beacon Point has now been added to the upcoming list on PlayFlix. The streamer is all set to re-release the movie, giving it a new life in the digital space. The film is set to hit Playflix on July 26, which is this coming Friday. The film stars Rae Olivier, Job Briddell, Eric Goins, Jason Burkey, RJ Shearer, Jarrett Bellini, and an ensemble cast. The movie is releasing on the streaming platform in English, with no other language options as of now.
About Beacon Point
Titled Beacon Point, the movie follows a group of hikers who are on a home on the Appalachian Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains. Things are all perfect until a twist where everything goes wrong as they realize they are lost in the land of nowhere and that they are not the only ones there. The sci-fi thriller shapes into an interesting film. You can watch the film on Playflix on July 26 and also with your OTTplay Premium subscription too.
Talking about why he chose to direct a sci-fi thriller as his feature debut, Eric Blue, as per a WordPress blog by Scarina, said, “Alien was the first horror movie I can remember seeing as a kid, and it scared the hell out of me. It really left an impact. I’ve always wanted to do a horror movie, and I got inspired and wrote Beacon Point. I really wanted to shoot a movie that would grab the audience, scare them, and be a fantastic journey. Horror seemed perfect. And yes, horror is a great genre for the indie filmmaker. There is a huge audience, they can be really entertaining, and you can effectively produce a quality movie on a smaller budget than, say, an action movie. All the pieces fit perfectly. I’m excited about how well it has all turned out.”
