That we are obsessed with Barzakh at this point would be an understatement because we are all following every detail about the show like crazy. There is so much being spoken about, dissected, and loved by audiences across the globe, especially in India and Pakistan. Directed by Asim Abbasi, the series, which consists of three episodes, is running successfully on Zee5 and has quickly managed to find an audience, as it should. It is the story of an unearthly bond where a man wants to marry the ghost of his first lover. But that is not where it all ends. Over the last three episodes, we have seen the story grow into a web of secrets, regrets, guilt, and much more than just a wedding that might destroy the realm of the living. There is so much to Barzakh than what meets the eye, and that is the best part about it.
We have seen two episodes of the show, and now we move on to the third, which dropped on the streaming service on Friday. By now, most of you must have already seen it, and for those who haven't, what are you waiting for? The third episode is about a girl who came from the mountains. We meet the fairies in the opening, who have a parcel for a man. They pull him up into their realm and give him one job, which is to take a little girl home. Titled "The Mountain Baby & The Divine Call," the episode witnesses the girl grow up, and she is none other than Scheherezade, played by Sanam Saeed. As the episode progresses, we get deeper into the story, only to lead to a confrontation that changes everything.
Barzakh Episode 3 Ending Explained
Brothers' Bonding
The final act of Episode 3 of Barzakh begins from the point where we see the two brothers, Shehryar (Fawad Khan) and Saifullah (Fawad M. Khan), talking to each other about things. These are two broken men. One regrets his decision, and the other lives in the guilt of a crime. There is so much collective pain and suppressed emotion that they are awkward around each other. They haven't met in ages, let alone had a conversation. So even touching each other requires permission. They are brothers, yet so far from each other.
Scheherezade Confronts
“Aqa to chaman ko chale, phir ek ladki kare to kya kare,” says Scheherezade, played by Sanam Saeed, when Jafar decides to taunt her about her trip to the village. She is not ready to take his flak this time. When he says he is happy he didn't name their relationship, she is triggered. In this key and vulnerable moment, we are told she is his daughter and that he never really gave her the position because she stayed in his service. Scheherezade chooses to confront him this time for being an ignorant man with no courage to accept his shortcomings. She is the daughter of the mountains, and no one knows where she has come from. But now we have an idea.
The King Faces Himself
Jafar is being confronted, first by his dead wife, second by his hidden daughter, and finally by himself in the mirror. There is so much depth in how the episode looks at the king, aka Jafar. He is told to be empathetic by everyone, but he hasn't listened to the advice until today. He is right, and the world is wrong for him all the time. We are even taken into a flashback where one of his sons steals his money, takes his car, and just randomly throws it all out on the road for the laypeople to pick up. He is the rebel but also a thief, and his wife in return says, “Chor ka beta chor hi banega.” Jafar is a thief, but what did he steal? We will know. That final frame of him looking into the mirror where he sees his younger self with a poker face is where all the depth lies.
