Barroz is finally on its way, and it’s a big deal since it’s the first time Mohanlal, the iconic superstar, is stepping behind the camera to direct. He’s also taking on the lead role as Barroz, the protector of Vasco D Gama’s treasure. The film is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2024. In some recent news, it looks like this kids' fantasy flick won’t have those early morning screenings that we usually see with Mohanlal’s other major releases. Plus, insiders have shared the first showtimes for the movie.

The creators of Barroz have chosen not to hold early morning fan screenings for the film, taking its genre into account. As Mohanlal mentioned in his recent interviews, this is his first time directing a children's fantasy film, and it's in 3D. The initial screenings of this highly anticipated movie will kick off at 9:30 AM in all theaters across Kerala. Other locations in India might stick to the same schedule for the first shows of Barroz, but the overseas release will have different times.

Mohanlal just released the first single from Barroz 3D on social media, and it's got music by Lydian Nadhaswaram with the superstar himself lending his voice. The ‘Isabella music production video’ is taking the internet by storm, hinting that his directorial debut is set to be a heartfelt journey for fans of Malayalam cinema. As Mohanlal mentioned before, Barroz promises to be a one-of-a-kind visual treat for audiences around the globe.

The film, inspired by Jijo Punnoose’s famous novel Barroz: Guardian Of D’Gama’s Treasure, kicked off production back in 2021. After some creative differences led to Jijo stepping away, Kalavoor Ravikumar came on board as an additional scriptwriter. Santhosh Sivan is handling the cinematography, while Lydian Nadhaswaram is in charge of the music. This highly awaited project is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner.
