Barroz to have an IMAX version; Mohanlal drops major updates

Mohanlal is currently busy with the final leg of post-production of his debut directorial venture, Barroz. The movie, touted to be a 3D fantasy film, originally started rolling in 2021. After multiple delays and some major changes in its star cast, Barroz is finally gearing up to have its grand theatrical release on October 3, 2024. Meanwhile, in a recent interaction with the media, leading man-director Mohanlal made some exciting revelations about the film’s genre, and release plans.
Barroz to get an IMAX release
In his recent interaction with the media, Mohanlal opened up about Barroz and stated that he is proud to be the director of the second 3D film from the Malayalam film industry. According to the actor-director, the upcoming period fantasy film has been shot entirely in 3D, unlike most of the 3D films that are originally shot in 2D. The debutant filmmaker further added that many internationally acclaimed technicians, including the director of photography Santosh Sivan.
Mohanlal, who further opened up about the project, stated that the music score and the sound designing of the film are also handled by the best technicians. The star cast, on other the hand, majorly consists of many highly talented British and Greek actors. Mohanlal’s new revelations about Barroz have left the cine-goers excited about the film. It is safe to assume Malayalam cinema is set to witness a unique cinematic experience in October 2024.
Barroz is a children’s film
In the media interaction, Mohanlal also made it clear that Barroz is an out-and-out period fantasy film which is made for children. According to the Malayalam superstar, he was keen to make a quality 3D film for children, as the genre is not very well explored in the industry. The actor-filmmaker revealed that his directorial debut is a highly layered film which deals with many emotions including love, integrity, commitment, and more. Barroz, which revolves around the story of a child and a ghost, also conveys a moral lesson.
