Mohanlal kickstarted the shooting of Barroz, the 3D fantasy film which is supposed to mark his directorial debut, in 2021. However, the highly anticipated project was delayed multiple times due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the multiple lockdowns. After the delay, Mohanlal resumed Barroz and reshot all the previously filmed portions with a new cast, after the original cast exited. Even though Barroz was supposed to hit the theatres in September 2024 as an Onam special release, the release has been postponed again.

Mohanlal’s Barroz is postponed again

As per the latest updates, Barroz will not hit the theatres in September 2024 as an Onam special release, as planned earlier. If the reports are to be believed, the makers have already confirmed the same, by officially informing the theatre owners about the change in release plans. Even though earlier it was confirmed that the film will hit the theatres on September 12, 2024, the unexpected delay in post-production work has reportedly caused a further delay.

Both Mohanlal and the makers of the banner, Aashirvad Cinemas have not officially announced the new update on social media yet. However, the new update has left the superstar’s fans and the cine-goers, who have been eagerly waiting for his directorial debut for the last three years, extremely disappointed. The team has reportedly not finalised the new release date of Barroz, so far.
