Roaring Star Sriimurali’s Bagheera’s trailer is out to tell audiences what to expect when the film hits theatres in just about 10 days. The film is based on a story by Prashant Neel, and has been directed by Dr Suri, given the former’s busy schedule. Sriimurali is paired with Rukmini Vasanth in the film, which also stars Prakash Raj, Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani, Rangayana Raghu and Garuda Ram, among others.
Sriimurali's Bagheera like Daredevil?
The trailer is an extension of the teaser that the makers revealed more than 10 months ago and tells audiences about the man who takes on ‘rakshasa’ form to fight evil. As Bagheera, Sriimurali is a ruthless killer targeting the hardest of criminals in his city. But he’s also a police officer called Vedanth, in whose city Bagheera is unleashing his fury, much to the chagrin of the former’s superior officers.
Bagheera, it would seem is Kannada cinema’s answer to a plethora of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) vigilante/superhero films and the first impression is that it borrows from Daredevil, where Matt Murdock is a lawyer by day and crime-fighting vigilante by night, for the good of his city – Hell’s Kitchen. In Sriimurali’s film too, he has a day job, but takes up the cudgels of those oppressed by evil forces by night.
The film, it appears, will be high on action, which, may remind hardcore superhero film fans of other movies in the genre, like Black Panther and Wolverine, among others. The question that remains is why does Vedanth chose to become a masked vigilante instead of using his khaki to good effect?
Bagheera releases in theatres on October 31, a day on which several other big films will court audiences during Deepavali. Also releasing on the day are films like Lucky Bhaskar, Amaran, Zebra, Bloody Beggar, while Bhool Bhulaiyya 3 and Singham Again, join in a day later.
