What's the plot of Bad Genius?

The film Bad Genius follows a bright student named Lynn, who’s acing her classes and snagging top scholarships. She hatches a clever plan to help her friends score high on their exams. What starts as a small scheme quickly spirals into a bigger operation as more students join in.

As this network expands, Lynn finds herself in a tough spot that tests her morals. She’s forced to grapple with the values of the American education system, leading her to a tricky choice between staying loyal to her friends and maintaining her integrity.

Benedict Wong shared his thoughts on his time working on Bad Genius

In October 2024, actor Benedict Wong and director J.C. Lee opened up about their film, Bad Genius, during a chat with Screen Rant. For those who might not know, Wong takes on the role of Lynn's father, a brilliant student.

When asked if he had seen the original Thai film, the 53-year-old actor admitted he hadn’t found the time to check it out, even after the release of Bad Genius. What really mattered to him was trusting the script that J.C. crafted, rather than trying to replicate the original story. He aimed to capture the essence of a proud dad who wants to provide his daughter with opportunities he never had.
