Ayisha: All you need to know
The main character of the movie is Ayisha, a single mother who must overcome several obstacles in order to travel to Riyadh and work as a domestic servant to support her family. Her perseverance pays off, as she is hired in 1988 in Riyadh's royal palace as a gaddama. However, Ayisha's employers quickly discover that there's more to her than meets the eye.
The film is directed by debutante Aamir Pallikal. The filmmaker skilfully crafts the narrative so that it gradually reveals the protagonist's backstory, keeping viewers curious about what makes Ayisha so unique, according to OTTplay's review. An additional noteworthy aspect of the movie is the filmmakers' candid portrayal of the sophisticated way of life and customs of the royal family in Riyadh during that era. When the writing offers Manju Warrier ample material to work with and displays her versatility as a performer, Ayisha presents her in top form. Zakariya Mohammed bankrolled the film under the banner of Cross Border Cinema.
