The Ba***ds of Bollywood, the inaugural project of Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, was officially unveiled by the superstar during Netflix's Next on Netflix event this week. However, Shah Rukh only disclosed the playful title, with all other information remaining confidential. Reports indicate that Lakshya and Sahher Bamba will take on the leading roles, a detail that HT has independently verified through sources associated with the production.
Sources suggest that The Ba***ds of Bollywood is a humorous satire exploring the intricacies of the Hindi film industry. The series is expected to include notable figures in cameo roles, with speculation surrounding appearances by Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Ranveer Singh. Additionally, Bobby Deol and Mona Singh are said to be part of the cast. Nevertheless, sources emphasize that Sahher and Lakshya will be the central figures driving the narrative.
Who are Lakshya and Sahher?
Lakshya, previously recognized as Laksh Lalwani, commenced his acting career with the television series Warrior High but rose to fame for his leading role in Porus, which is noted as India's most expensive production. He was initially slated to make his Bollywood debut in Dostana 2 alongside Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor; however, the project was ultimately shelved. Following this, he signed on for Bedhadak with Shanaya Kapoor, but that film also faced cancellation. Lakshya eventually made his cinematic debut with Kill, a violent action film that received international acclaim. He is set to return to long-form storytelling with The Ba***ds of Bollywood after a seven-year hiatus.
Sahher Bambba, hailing from Himachal Pradesh, made her acting debut alongside Karan Deol, son of Sunny Deol, in the 2019 film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas. She subsequently took on supporting roles in the Disney+ Hotstar series The Empire and Dil Bekaraar. Additionally, Sahher was featured in B Praak's music video for the song Ishq Nahi Karte, where she shared the screen with Emraan Hashmi.
Regarding The Ba***ds of Bollywood, the series was previously known as Stardom. This week, the official title was unveiled at a Netflix event, accompanied by an announcement video featuring Shah Rukh Khan. Reports suggest that Shah Rukh may have a cameo in the series, although he has neither confirmed nor denied this. At the event, he expressed gratitude to various industry colleagues for their cameo appearances, noting that he did not personally reach out to anyone, as Aryan took the initiative in organizing it.
The Ba***ds of Bollywood is scheduled for release on Netflix later this year, although a specific release date has yet to be disclosed.
